DARAJA DAY 2014 at ACD&O
Friday, September 25, 2014 was a very special day here at Alpharetta Children’s Dentistry & Orthodontics, as we welcomed our friends from the Daraja Children’s Choir of Africa to our North Point office for a fun-filled day of providing dental care, playing games, doing arts & crafts, and of course, some singing! A total of 24 children from the choir and 7 adults from Uganda and Kenya, along with 10 interns, and the Daraja staff visited our office for our 4th annual “Daraja Day”. The choir was in the Alpharetta area as part of their U.S. tour! The day was filled with lots of welcoming, great big hugs, soccer games, cornhole tournaments, finger painting, bracelet making, bubbles, and each child chose a pair of “goggles” (what we call sunglasses). An ACD&O volunteer team made up of 4 pediatric dentists, 1 orthodontist, 6 dental hygienists, and 14 staff members helped to make the day a huge success!
“Daraja Day here at ACD&O is when you guys bless us immensely by allowing our kids to come and get their teeth checked out and do all kinds of fun activities…we’ve been so blessed that Dr. Mac and the whole team is helping us out in this way,” Rob Allred, Daraja Children’s Choir Director said about the day.
Vashti, a dental assistant with Alpharetta Children’s Dentistry & Orthodontics says “My favorite part about Daraja Day is seeing their smiles, and how much they are enjoying the fact that they are at a dentist and we’re making such a positive experience for them and they love it. When they get to sing for us at the end is probably the most rewarding part of it all.”
